(I dont own it.)
Summary: NA

~(*)~

Running. Yuugi was always running. He never knew why, nor did he stop to see what he was running from. He just kept running.

The landscape was always dark, never changing, nor receding. It just was. Sometimes, he would trip over something that was non-existent, or a gust of wind would blow him over. All he could do was stand back up, and keep running.

His breathing became labored, as it always did, and a sharp pain grew in his side. He never had been very athletic and his physical attributes seemed to follow him here, to this place.

Youthful, purple eyes were wide in terror and laced with strain. During the day, out in the bright sunlight they would reflect stubborn hopefulness, and the joyfulness of being alive. No matter what the daily struggles of life demanded, he had always done what he could and often more than he should.

Keep running, his thoughts yelled at him. Whatever was chasing him was gaining, and he was tiring fast. It was times like these that he wished he had wings, wings to fly away from the unknown terror that pursued him. However, nothing seemed to come true in this frightening realm.

What would happen if he stopped? He wondered as the pain spread towards his lungs. Would the chase finally end? Would he be captured? Would he be free? No, he wouldn’t be free. He still didn’t know what would happen, but he knew for a fact that he wouldn’t be free if he stopped.

So, he continued to run. He ran as much as his heart could (would) take and even then he pushed the limit. Could he die here? Would he die here?

A string of air swirled around him, catching at his feet, his arms, his hair. It did nothing to actively push him to the ground, but it was obvious that it could if it so chose. A siren’s song tugged at his straining heart, compelling him to stop, to rest for just a little while. A little whisper along the wind: calling to him, speaking his name.

Who are you?! His heart yelled. He refused to stop running. He just couldn’t, he wouldn’t. It wasn’t safe here; he didn’t know where he was! What was going to happen to him if he stopped?

Safe. The wind whispered soothingly. You are my own; I will keep you safe in and out of this realm. You are my carrier, my vessel; my strength shall course through your veins and you shall my under my wing.

Hands that shouldn’t exist brushed along the back of his shoulders and along his arms. The words echoed in his head. Safe. Safe from what? Nothing had come to harm him. No one wanted his dead, right? He kept his head down when the nobles came to collect tax or buy a slave. He did not speak out when a new decree was sent out. He did not slander the gods in any way. Who did he need to be safe from?

Not yet, the wind whispered. The voice was beginning to take on a different quality. As if it had been speaking through a thick clothe and the cloth was slowly being pulled away. But soon, people will take notice of who you are, whose you are, and they will want you for their own.

Keep running! He just had to. He couldn’t be different, didn’t want to be different! Different people got hurt, got stolen, got sold. He just wanted to live normally, without ambition, and be happy with what was given him.

A laugh (dark and light, malicious and benevolent, sane and insane) flowed around him. The wind picked him up off of the ground, even as he continued to try and run, and held him suspend in the air. Confident hands trailed from around his shoulders to meet at his chest, binding his arms to his sides. He continued to run. He must!

A face, perfectly designed in every way, nestled in between his shoulder and his neck, lips pressing gently against his skin. Something foreign passed against his heart, and it thudded irregularly, adapting to the new course it was set upon. It filled him with a strange (exhilarating, strenuous, terrifying) feeling and inhuman energy crackled in his veins.

Someday, the voice (dark and mellow, filled with knowledge and promises of something not human) whispered in his ear. Someday you will not run from me. Eventually, you will understand what this means, and that you are meant for so much more than the simple life you now lead.

He was pulled up against a softly clad chest, gold adorned legs entwining with his to keep them still. A soft breath against his face breathed into him something that was not human. It filled every inch of him (burning and freezing, up and down, flying and swimming, pain and healing, Alive, and Dead).
I look forward to that day…Yuugi.

Binding Circles 1/? That’s a boyXboy relationship.
Notes: Regular updates can be found on fanfiction.net under my penname.(Shamise)
Summary: ‘The Ocean will call you home.’ Is what Yuugi’s Grandpa told him before he died. Now, a few years later, the ocean really is calling Yugi, but not in the way he thought it would. A strange creature has claimed him as his mate, and there are others that will do anything to separate them. (YYxY, AU)

~(*)~

Yuugi loved diving, exploring the ocean’s floor and occasional reef. The diverse amount of life beneath the surface always fascinated him and he always jumped at the chance to escape to a beach, spending hours scanning the seabed. It helped that he was currently living in a small beachside cottage next to a hidden cove that was perfect for diving.

His love for diving had been spawned by living with his Grandfather for most of his life. His Grandfather was a kind fisherman, a type of friendly loner that had been a member of the small town before it had become a minor tourist attraction. He hadn’t been one for the use of technology in fishing, saying that it didn’t give the fish a chance to get away, and had been a silent protester of trophy fishing.

On his tenth birthday, Yuugi had received a small diving kit from his Grandfather and had been hooked on it ever since. It had been the only thing he received for his birthday that year, his Grandpa being poor and no one knew where his parents were, but he couldn’t have been happier. He spent the next two years exploring a few feet below the surface and saving up whatever money he earned to buy an additional set of gear as his Grandpa watched him with proud eyes.

It turned out that his Grandpa had also been saying up his extra earnings for Yuugi’s sixteenth birthday. Yuugi had woken up that day to a smiling Grandpa and a birthday card. The card had been handmade, as all his cards were, and had the regular ‘Happy Birthday, Yuugi!’ written in the familiar shaky sprawl. A riddle and map was included in the card to Yuugi’s delight, he had always loved games, and he ran around the house with childish glee, following the teasing directions left in the card.

Imagine his surprise when he found the diving gear set he had been wishing for wrapped up in a green bow. It had everything he needed for the deeper diving he had wanted to do. Once the shock of receiving such a gift wore off, he had been concerned on it had affected them financially. His Grandpa had shaken off Yuugi’s worries, saying that they had plenty of money left over and he had been right. Just the thought of how long it took his Grandpa to save up for the gift and how many luxuries he had put off made the sentimental value skyrocket.

It was also the last gift he would receive from his Grandfather.

Only a few months after his birthday, his Grandpa had died of a heart attack. He had been in the house when it happened and the ambulance had arrived quickly, but in the end it still wasn’t enough. His Grandpa had went peacefully and had told Yuugi in that familiar tone that he was very proud of him and to never give up his dreams no matter what.

When Yuugi asked him where he would go now, his grandpa had answered in the riddled teasing tone that he had used when he knew something Yuugi didn’t. He said, “The Ocean will call you home.”

That was a year and six months ago and Yuugi still had no idea what his Grandfather meant. He was still living in the little cottage he grew up in, and his fondness for diving had, if anything increased tenfold. He was determined to honor his Grandfather’s memory and to continue working his dream. The local fishermen and townspeople supported him as much as he would let them and he furthered his knowledge on good diving spots. Fishermen gained good advice on where fish grouped and which spots would be bad for a boat; and the locals were able to establish a small tourist attraction for snorkeling and diving.

This was the reason why he was on a crowed tour boat filled with whinny, wanabe divers.

‘Deep breath, Yuugi. You offered to do this remember? And you need the money…’ Yuugi thought to himself. It was true though; he had offered to help with the tour I exchange for a little bit of money. One of the head divers had come down with a cold yesterday and they were hard-pressed to find a replacement. Luckily, for them anyway, Yuugi had come by to borrow a small boat and they struck a deal.

‘Well,’ Yuugi sighed. ‘At least I get free use of the boats for two weeks, and I only have to show them how to use the equipment.’

“Mr. Mouto? What are you doing over there?!” Yuugi jumped slightly at the voice, almost unbalancing himself from his perch. He was sitting atop the railing on the furthermost point on the bow; his feet hooked around two supporting poles to prevent him from falling. Twisting his back so that he could see behind him, he noticed that the speaker was the main instructor that had called to him.

“Just enjoying the view, Mr. Wakamo.” He reassured with a calm smile. No lie there, he had been admiring how the waves and sunlight danced with each other.

“…Alright, but we’re about to start going over the instructions, your should probably get ready.” The man replied, running a hand through his short, blond hair. Hazel eyes showed just how much the owner was looking forward to instructing a bunch of rambunctious tourists.

Yuugi nodded his head in agreement, telling the elder that he would be right down. The blond instructor left to organize the group of tourists and Yuugi was alone again.

He sighed dejectedly as he got down from his perch, resigning to his fate of noisy people who had no idea what they were doing.

The ocean water was cool as he swam away from the boat, leaving the annoying group of tourists behind. He had finished demonstrating on what signals to use and when and how to use the mask only a few minutes ago and had taken the first opportunity to escape the crowd.

His snorkeling mask dangled around his neck and rubber fins donned his feet. He had changed from his hoodie and sweatpants into a black and purple wetsuit. It was short-sleeved and cut off about mid thigh, providing just enough protection for snorkeling.

Once he had reached a tolerable amount of distance from the boat, Yuugi fixed his mask, took a deep breath, and dove beneath the surface. Light blue tinted the watery world he had submerged into and random splashes of vibrant color played across the small reed he had found. Multiple types of fish swam to and fro, skirting away when he got too close.

Yuugi could easily lose himself in the serenity of underwater life and was disappointed when he had to return to the surface for some air. He rose above the surface with a gasp, allowing his body to float as he checked his position with the boat. The watercraft still wasn’t too far off so he glided over the small reef; his back still on the surface and his snorkeling tube granting him prolonged time under the water.

Diving back beneath the surface, Yuugi swam among the reef. He spotted a strange looking sponge lying closer to the bottom of the shallow reef and moved to investigate. Colorful spirals curled from the base and a crystalline texture covered the surface area. He had never seen such a sponge in any of his previous dives.

As Yuugi drifted towards the oddity, a feeling that something wasn’t right invaded him. He paused only a few feet away when he realized what was giving the feeling; the spirals of the sponge were swaying slightly in the current and they were drifting…closer towards him.

Yuugi began to back up, large eyes searching for the cause of the abnormal movement. He new the dangers of the reef’s predators and anything that felt courageous enough to go for something as large as a human would mean that the predator wasn’t just any fish. He was about to turn and swim away as fast as he could, when the unthinkable happened.

Large, black tentacles formed out of the sponge and struck out for him. The boneless mass of muscle moved with an almost lazy motion and attempted to wrap around its target.

Yuugi freaked out, kicking away the groping tentacles as he tried to put more distance between him and the octopus. The hulking mass of the black octopus stayed hidden in-between a human sized crevice in the reef and more tentacles reached out to him. Yuugi’s heart stopped when one black tentacle encircled his left leg, the strange rubbery skin finding purchase easily.

He kicked futilely as the tentacle pulled him back towards the reef, its comrades reaching up to join in the capture of the chosen prey. They curled their way up his thigh and around his waist, still pulling him to that large crevice where the mouth must lay.

Yuugi knew what would happen if he got dragged into that reef, he had seen documentaries on how octopi consume their prey and he was not looking forward to the experience. Air soon became an issue, as he was kept under the water for longer that he could stand and black spots crowed upon his vision. He didn’t notice it when the body of the octopus emerged from the crevice and if he had he would have though he was hallucinating. A human body, with hair eerily similar to his and eyes the color of blood, was attached to the squirming mass of tentacles that encircled Yuugi.

The mythical creature looked at Yuugi curiously, like it hadn’t ever had a human as prey before, and proceeded to drag the teen closer to it. Yuugi, on the other hand, had managed to release his right leg from the deadly tentacles and in a desperate attempt to free himself, kicked out as hard as he could.

He was surprised when his foot connected with something not-so-squishy and the tentacles released him with an unearthly shriek. Yuugi wasted no time to swim away from the danger, heading straight for the surface. He reached it with a gasp and frantically searched for a place above the water. An octopus’s strength lasted in its element so Yuugi should hold some kind of advantage on land.

It seemed that some higher entity was looking out for him as he spotted and outcropping just a few yards away. He sped towards it with frightening anticipation of when those tentacles would drag him back under water.

Minutes passed in tense silence as Yuugi tried to calm his nerves. The octopus creature had probably left in search of easier prey by now so the water was probably safe now. In spite of this logic, Yuugi still called the boat over to him instead of swimming towards it like he normally would. When he was asked what had happened he simple said, “I was attacked.” Thankfully they didn’t push the matter any further and Yuugi was left to his own devises.

He definitely wasn’t going to dive over there again.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://shamise-fanfiction.blogspot.com/2009/11/binding-circles-1-11-4-09_04.html' title='Binding Circles 1/? Ushio decides that the best way to pay this debt is to rent the miniscule teen out to the mot popular whorehouse in Tokyo. Yuugi is spirited away from the place that would ultimately cause his death by a demon that is half kitsune and half incubus. With the demon’s mating season quickly approaching, what will Yuugi say when the demon suddenly decides that the human will become his mate? [YYXY] (Horrible summary, I know. I’ll change it later.)

‘thoughts’
“Speech”
/Mental speech/
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Let me go!”

Why oh why did he have to stay that extra hour at the library?! If he hadn’t he wouldn’t be in this predicament! He kicked and screamed and thrashed in his captor’s hold, receiving nothing but cruel laughter in return.

His captor, an ogre of a teen, taunted him as he was dragged further and further away from the safety of the main roads and into the flashy red-light district. Greasy black hair shown in the streetlights and a foul odor permeated from his mouth. His cronies didn’t look any better.

“Don’t think so, Runt.” Ushio, his captor, mocked with a coarse laugh, making Yuugi flinch. “If you had just kept up on your payments this wouldn’t be happening. You can only blame yourself.”

‘I don’t have any money!’ He wanted to scream at them, but it wouldn’t have done any good. Instead, he settled for putting up a harder fight. A harsh blow to his head was his only reward.

“Stop struggling! You knew the punishment for being two months overdue!” The blow had momentarily stunned him, and by the time they had gotten to their destination he had started his struggling again.

The gang leader eventually got tired of have such a pipsqueak try to fight back and tied a blindfold over Yuugi’s eyes. Yuugi screamed as he was thrown over someone’s shoulder, his gut digging painfully into the bony structure and his breath was driven out of his small lungs at the uncomfortable gait the brute adopted. Tears were absorbed into the blinding cloth as he heard them approach another group of people.

The gang that had captured him exchanged ‘pleasantries’ with this other group. He tried to make his body as still as possible, desperately not wanting to draw unwanted attention to himself. However, his hopes were dashed as someone spoke up.

“Hey, Wakanabe. What ‘cha got there? Fresh meat?” Crude laughter came from both gangs as the one holding him gave a harsh jerk, causing him to gasp painfully when his stomach drove hard into the shoulder bone.

“Runt owes us some money.” The one called Wakanabe stated, sadistic smirk evident in his voice. “So, we’re goin’ ta put him ta work.” Yuugi shivered unpleasantly at the implications.

“Well, we’ve got an extra room empty.” A different voice from the first offered, clearly belonging to someone in charge. “We’d be willing to rent it out to ya for a price.” The sound of paper trading hands was like the toll of death’s bell.

“This way.” And older voice commanded, and he was moving again. He immediately felt the difference in atmosphere as they entered a building. It was a lot warmer in here than outside, and a strong smell that made his stomach twist into knots burned his nostrils. He truly began to feel sick as indiscernible noises assaulted his ears.

His body trembled and his hearth thudded painfully in his chest. This had to be a nightmare; it just had to be. He had fainted after a beating and was lying somewhere on the streets of Tokyo unconscious.

The sound of a door being unlocked and opened snapped him out of his denial. His ears were filled with crude jokes being made at his expense. He trembled uncontrollably.

“-had a nice ass. Too bad he’s for customers only.’”

“Yah. Boss clearly said not to touch.”

“Damn. If it was anyone else I wouldn’t give a rat’s as-“

“Shut up! We don’t want Boss hearing you say that! He could’ve bugged the room or something…”

The conversation died out as Yuugi was thrown unceremoniously onto what could only be a bed. His hands and ankles were immediately grabbed and despite his struggles he was strapped down to the bed in a spread eagle position. A hard plastic ball was forced between his teeth and a string secured it there.

“Ah, man.” One of the two voices left hummed appreciatively. “I so wish I was a customer tonight.”

The other voice grunted wistfully, “Maybe we can have the leftovers.”

Yuugi’s violent trembling did not go unnoticed and he felt someone lean over him extremely close. Rough, obtrusive hands fondled him through his boxers, which was the only article of clothing he was still wearing, his shirt and pants had been removed before he was tied down. Yuugi screamed repulsively through the gag, shedding desperately away from the disgusting hands.

“Better get used to it, Runt.” The gang member laughed. “There’s gonna be more than just touching tonight.”

Yuugi tied desperately to control his sobs as he was left alone, strapped to a strange bed in a place he really didn’t want to be. He knew where he was; he wasn’t so naïve that he hadn’t heard of the whorehouses that littered the darker part of Tokyo.

His blind struggles slowly died out as the bleakness of the situation stared his in the face. He wasn’t going to make it out of his whole and he knew that this wouldn’t be the last time it happened either. The gang would always demand money that he didn’t have. He would be brought back here again and again to pay his ‘bills’. A hopeless spiral that he would never be able to lift himself from.

‘Somebody…anybody…’ He cried mutely, his body ranking with dry sobs. ‘Please…save me!’

The crying teen had no idea if his plea would be answered in time.

Yuugi lay mutely on the bed, his arms and legs still restrained. He supposed he should be lucky that no ‘customers’ had come in yet, but this waiting in complete silence for a fate he was terrified of was going to drive him insane! He had tried to free himself of his bonds and had tired to make up songs in his head to pass the time. Both of these came back and bit him in the butt though; trying to free him-self had only caused his wrists to bruise, and the song he made up turned ugly and demented.

His skin was sweaty and his muscles cramped from being in this prolonged position. He really wished that someone would come in here and untie him…never mind; he really wished that no one would enter the room. There was a cold draft that wasn’t there before and it wafted across his skin and he shivered unpleasantly. He also wished that Ushio’s gang hadn’t taken his clothes.

Yuugi’s brow furrowed. Why did the atmosphere seem so tense now? Was something different? …Was someone in here?!

His heart stopped when a hand brushed his bangs out of his face. How on earth did someone get in without him knowing?! He hadn’t heard the door open! What was going on! His eyes opened wide and he whimpered in fear. He tried to disappear into the mattress, desperately wanting to escape from what could only be a ‘customer.’

The customer, after a brief moment of hesitation, lowered himself onto the bed next to Yuugi. Yuugi’s breathing accelerated to an unhealthy speed as he felt the other lean over him. An uncontrolled gasp jumped through the gag when he felt warm hands rove over his stomach. ‘No No no nononononononononono.’ He jerked against his bonds as those hands ghosted over his taunt muscles.

“Shh, it’s going to be alright, Little One. I won’t harm you.” The baritone voice washed over Yuugi’s distraught mind like a buffer. He could feel the sharp edges of his fear being softened and he fought vainly against the influence. He didn’t want this to happen! He didn’t want to be raped!

Distressingly, he found his stomach muscles beginning to relax against his control, those warm, strong hands somehow forcing him into submission. Yuugi’s terror spiraled out of control and he struggled with what little control he had left. Tears leaked through the blindfold with abandon and his muffled sobs were the only sound that filled the empty room. Strange feelings of calm and trust invaded his mind, completely rendering his capability of fighting back useless.

Yuugi fell limp in exhaustion. He couldn’t find the energy in him to fight back against the obviously stronger man. Yuugi tensed as the man’s hands trailed up to the back of his head. He didn’t notice that the gag was finally removed from his mouth, nor did he realize that his thoughts were currently spilling from his mouth.

“-No-please don’t-don’t hurt me-leave me alone-stop-please-somebody-save me!-“ His mantra was cut off when he felt something smooth and warm press against his forehead, and something reached through his distraught mind, soothing it like how someone would calm a panicking bird. His body soon relaxed under the influence, no matter how hard he fought against it. He could feel his eyes drooping in exhaustion and his fogged mind didn’t notice when his blindfold was removed.

Crimson eyes stared at him, the emotion unrecognizable in his current state. Yuugi knew without a doubt that it was these eyes that were controlling his reactions and he subconsciously fought against it, however weak his efforts were.

/Calm down, Little One. You wanted someone to save you, so here I am. You just need to sleep. Sleep…/ The command struck every nerve in Yuugi’s body and he found himself immediately succumbing to it. His mind fell into the soft darkness, guided by those bewitching crimson eyes.

To be continued…

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://shamise-fanfiction.blogspot.com/2009/11/demons-virtue-1-11-4-09_04.html' title='Demon's Virtue 1/? He can't fight back, can't run away, and he is blamed for his own predicament. However, after a battle with a particular vampire, Yuugi's world will change forever. But will it be for the better?

~(*)~

A dark figure jumped from roof to roof, crimson eyes scanned the area for their next victim. An orange moon hung high in the sky and the stars hide playfully behind the scattered clouds of the night.

Leather boots landed silently on the next roof and the shadowed figure stilled, letting his senses take in all that was going on around him. He listened for the solitary footsteps of a human walking by themselves on a night such as this.

This was part of his hunt, a crucial step in making sure that he would be rewarded for his efforts. This searching part helped him make sure that possible targets were alone and that their emotional stand-point was rather low. He didn’t care to feed from certain types of humans and he was doing the world a favor by picking off the weak and stupid.

After a good thirty minutes of searching, patience was also a key in good hunting, he located a certain signal that caught his interest. The signal was different from most of his feeds, seeing as they were mostly tainted and slurred; but this one’s was rather pure and the emotions showed that it clearly didn’t want to be where it was at all.

The signal appeared to be alone, and it would dim momentarily before glowing again. It seemed to be trying to hide in plain sight even though it wasn’t working.

Yami had to admit that his curiosity was caught, so he leaped off his perch and glided in the specified direction. He made sure to check for other signals since he didn’t want to be caught unaware.

When he didn’t notice any, suspicions began to form. The original signal seemed worried, scared, and resigned which in itself was rather strange but the fact that there was no one else around it made it even stranger.

‘Perhaps someone his hiding their signal.’ Yami thought as he hid in a shadow about a block away from the signal.

Suddenly the scent of freshly spilled blood filled his nose, cutting sharply through the cool night air. The scent was sweeter than normal, a mixture of honey and green tea; the combination was strange but it went well together for some reason. It seemed human, but there was something…off about it.

Yami quickly reigned in his vampiric urges and he continued towards the signal, the owner of the confusing scent. He also hid his own signal, feeling that there was something just ‘not right’ here.

Yami glanced around the park, crimson eyes falling on a small form that was lying on a bench. The small human was the owner of the signal and the blood; he could see where the red substance dripped from a cut on the small teen’s arm. Yami was just about to approach the human when something set off his warning signals.

He jumped off the ground and onto a nearby building when his deeper search picked up a hidden signal, three of them. Two of them were crouching near the small human a few hundred feet away and the third one was approaching at a fast speed. Signal one and two were human and they were defiantly hunters; Yami had no reason to fear them though, he was too strong for this weak pair of hunters to beat him. Signal three also brought no worry, true the signal belonged to a vampire but this one was a fledgling and could be dealt with easily.

So with this new information Yami concluded that he young boy was being used as bait by the hunters. Yami scowled, they must have been getting desperate.

‘Or lazy.’ Yami couldn’t help but add. He sat on the edge of the roof, concealed in shadow as he watched the events play out.

The human boy was still sitting on the bench, whimpering quietly in pain. Yami could hear the teen’s frantic heart beats from his perch.

He didn’t really notice it before, but the young human looked remarkably like him. They both had the same tri-colored hair, except that his had more blond streaks, and they were close to the same height. The human’s eyes were closed so that leaved him to ponder their color.

‘Maybe a sea green? Or a sky blue? They can’t be crimson like mine, I just can’t imagine that color for him. Defiantly not something normal like brown.’ Yami mused, testing out the different colors and combinations.

Yami was saved from further guessing when his look-a-like tilted his head back, first staring at the moon before looking directly at the shadow Yami was concealed in.

Their eyes locked and Yami was stunned at the truly unique color of those orbs. Yami felt himself drawn into those depths and accepted the feeling with open arms.

Yami now had his answer.

‘I really don’t want to be here.’ Yugi whimpered. Warm, sticky blood ran down his arm letting the scent lure unwanted company near. This almost always happened when he was brought on a hunt. His master would find a logical place for a vampire to feed, cut him open to lure said vampires, then hide in the bushes and wait for the right moment to attack.

‘Which is normally while the vampire feeds.’ Yugi winced; he didn’t like being drained by the bloodsuckers, it always hurt and he always thinks that he would die.

He shifted uncomfortably on the wooden bench, staring at the sky with broken eyes. His first glance landed on the orange full moon, the ‘hunting moon’ as some humans called it. Vampires, werewolves, and other such creatures of the night were known to make multiple killings on these nights.

‘At least it’s not a Blood Moon.’ Yugi thought half gratefully. He would rather not be here at all if he had any choice. The Blood Moon was when most of the fledglings go into ‘blood lust’ and when all creatures of the night were exceptionally cruel. Any human who had any shred of sanity would stay indoors on a night with a red moon.

Anyone except the hunters; they came out on such nights to weed out the weaker ones in an attempt to lessen the numbers. Not to mention that he was used as bait most of those times anyway. What he wouldn’t give to actually die in one of those attacks, he was surprised that he hadn’t been turned yet.

He let out a sigh as he tilted his head further back, wanting to get a last look at the nearby city before he became vampire chow again. His eyes landed on the closest building, a small family owned store, and locked on the shadows at the top.

Yugi froze, mentally and physically when his eyes connected with another’s. His own amethyst eyes widened and his breath caught in his throat.

Crimson. That was the color of the other’s eyes. It wasn’t unlike the color that dripped from his arm steadily but it gave off a more comfortable feel, like a warm fire on a winter night.

The owner of the eyes was concealed completely in shadow with a faint outline of the person’s body. An attached shadow fluttered around him, probably the result of a cloak or jacket.

Dimly, Yugi heard a twig snap in the background. The sudden sound caused him to sharply tear his eyes away from the other’s and search for the origin of the noise.

Silence issued. The call of the night insects shuddered to a stop, causing a silence so big that he could hear his own heart. His amethyst eyes scanned the area, searching desperately for anything to sooth his fears.

Yugi glanced back at the rooftop, his heart crashing to a stop at what he saw.

A lone figure stood tall on the building, black cape flowing in the breeze. Slim, muscular legs were clothed in what appeared to be black leather and a sleeveless top adorned his chest. Various silver buckles and silver armbands decorated his upper arms and neck. Spiky hair skyrocketed from the man’s skull, so much like his own tri-colored locks.

Yugi stared momentarily, before rubbing his eyes. There was no way that there was someone on that roof, people just didn’t dress like that on an orange moon unless they wanted to be targeted.

He peered back at the rooftop, silently hoping that he had been hallucinating but also hoping that the image was actually real.

The rooftop was empty, like it was supposed to be. No crimson eyed shadow, and defiantly no man dressed in leather.

Yugi sighed, he new that he would eventually for crazy; he just didn’t expect it to be so soon.

“Well, well, well. What do we have here?”

Yugi froze as a soft, hoarse voice grated upon his ears. Goosebumps rose on his skin and his nerve jumped on an electric wire. He spun back around, away from the vacant rooftop and locked onto the tall male in front of him.

A man of about medium height stood before him. He had pale blond hair that fell to his shoulders and ice blue eyes. His body was thin yet muscular and he was wearing torn jeans with a blue t-shirt.

The man was smiling manically and his eyes were focused on the small, cowering human. Black pupils were almost formed into slits and a sharp canine protruded from thin lips.

Vampire.

“What’s the matter?” The blond sneered, a hissing accent showing that he was still a newly turned vampire. “I only want a bite.”

The vampire lunged forward, grabbing Yugi buy his injured arm and pulled him close. Yugi shuddered in fear, he could feel the vamps breath on his cut and he struggled weakly against the grip.

“Such a wonderful scent.” The vampire appraised, licking the still dripping blood. “I think that I shall enjoy this treat in a more secluded place.”

Yugi’s eyes widened even more as the implantations of what was said sunk in. Panicked thoughts tumbled in his head. The vampire wasn’t supposed to take him away, it was supposed to stay here and feed. If the vamp took him some other place , then he could actually die.

He started to struggle, all but thrashing in the vamps grip. Limbs attacked anything they could reach. The vampire seemed unsurprised at the actions and simply tightened its hold on Yugi’s arm. It wrapped its second arm around the struggling human, trapping the flailing arms against his side.

The vampire started to walk away from the park bench, heading in a direction that led to the trails. It was in a hurry, the scent of fresh blood driving the new vamp crazy, and gathered it legs beneath him so that it could leap.

They hadn’t made it ten feet off the ground when a shot ran out. The vampire spat out a curse, barely dodging the first shot. A silver bullet grazed Yugi’s arm as the vamp continued to dodge other shots.

“Filthy Hunter!!!” The vamp shouted. “Show yourself you coward!” Shots continued to fly, aimed directly for the vampire but occasionally one would strike Yugi.

The vampire, realizing that Yugi was only causing him to slow down and that the Hunters weren’t even trying to avoid the human, dropped its chosen feed. Now able to move more freely, the vampire twisted in the air and charged in the direction the shots came from.

Yugi dropped painfully to the hard ground, emitting a low groan. Stars jumped into his vision as he tried to make his body move. He didn’t want to be caught in the crossfire.

He watched as the vampire dodged the silver bullets, his master was hidden in the bushes nearby. The brown haired man called to him when the vampire started to run away.

“Brat! Get the rest of the gear and follow!”

Yugi obeyed, forcing his shaking limbs into action. He stumbled under the weight of the gear before gaining his balance and following his master. Silently, he wondered where his master’s partner was then guessing that he was setting up a sneak attack.

His breathing became ragged as he was pushed to his limits. He stationed himself near his master, ready for any other commands. The vampire had spotted the first hunter and was now adding some offense into its strategy.

“Give me a bomb!” His master commanded. Yugi quickly grabbed the item and handed it to his master, readying another just in case. The bomb was launched, but it didn’t do very much good. The after cloud stank and it hid the vamp from view.

His master smirked, thinking that the vamp was dead and was about to call out to his partner. When a sudden streak of blond and blue launched extremely close to the brown-haired man, cutting a fairly large gash in his firing arm.

A look of pure triumph crossed the vamps face before it suddenly turned into a look of shock and pain. A hole appeared in his chest, carved out by a silver stake. The second hunter strolled casually out of a bush, crossbow hanging in his arms.

“B-bastard.” The vampire chocked, spitting out blood. The pale skin dried and crinkled, turning into a slivery dust that clumped on the ground.

The vampire was dead.

“What took you so long?” Was the first thing out of Yugi’s master’s mouth, his unharmed arm was clutching the open wound in an attempt to stop the bleeding.

The hunter’s partner snorted and sent a disgusted look at Yugi, who cringed on reflex. This was going to end badly.

“The runt was in my firing sight, couldn’t get past him.”

The look on his master’s face was all the warning he needed. He shrunk in on himself, hoping that the upcoming beating wouldn’t be too damaging.

“The stupid crossbreed is the reason for my wound?!” He shouted, reading his foot for a well-placed kick. “I’m going to make you suffer-” His master’s voice was suddenly cut off a powerful aura flared to life nearby.

Two sets of hazel eyes looked towards the park entrance. “Looks like we’ve got ourselves another vamp.” His master’s companion stated.

“Yah, and a strong one at that. Stupid vamp, walking straight towards two trained Hunters.” He reloaded his gun, careful not to jar his injured hand. “We’ll have to make this quick. No hiding this time.”

The two nodded, completely forgetting about the cowering mass of Yugi, and stood to face the new undead. Guns aimed at the target and the crossbow was ready to fire.

Yugi dared to look up and see the features of this new vampire. He hadn’t thought that a vampire would willingly walk up to a Hunter, let alone two of them. Yugi wondered if this vampire would be seeking revenge for the hunter’s recent kill.

Yugi’s eyes widened when they landed on polished black boots, black leather pants and a sleeveless black tee. Familiar armbands and wild hair only verified exactly who it was.

It was the figure from the roof, and the crimson eyes were trained completely on him.

~(*)~

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://shamise-fanfiction.blogspot.com/2009/11/duskshaven-2-11-4-09.html' title='Dusk'sHaven 2/? The sun was slowly inching towards the horizon, signaling the evening hour. Stores were closing and people made their way to their homes in search of much needed rest.

Yet while some people were just getting ready for bed, others were just beginning to rise.

A single amethyst eye peered at the setting sun, hating the fact that it was no longer high in the sky. The room temperature dropped several degrees as the shadows lengthened and the small body shivered with the loss of heat.

The small boy took a deep breath then let it out with a sigh. He didn’t like the night, and hated the fact that he was most aware during that time. He hated the fact that his teeth were longer that a normal human’s and hated the fact that his diet was different.

You see…this boy was a vampire.

Well, not a full vampire, only half. He was very much still like a human except for the regular changes of diet, teeth, and sleeping habits. You’d think that being a half-vampire would be cool, with the enhanced strength, speed, and being able to still be awake during the day.

But for him, it was a curse.

Maybe I should explain something first. Half-vampires are still considered vampires, even though they are partially human and can still age. They are normally young so they are inexperienced, more so than full vampire fledglings. Because of this, most halflings need their Sire or ‘Master’ in order to survive. Their Master helps them to hunt and learn to defend themselves, and when the Master deems them ready, they will be turned into a full vampire.

That didn’t happen with him. He was a mistake, an accident created by an interrupted feed. Two Hunters killed the vamp while it drank from him. He had been dieing and some of the vampire’s blood had ended up in his mouth, thus turning him into a half-vampire.

The two Hunters thought that it’d be beneficial to have a halfling slave, to ‘assist’ them with their hunting. They prevented his wings from growing and bound his will with a sealing spell. He could still think and act on his own, but he couldn’t disobey a direct order and he couldn’t run away. Disobedience resulted in damaging punishments.

He had thought that the Hunters would be sympathetic, seeing as how he was only half. But once again he had been wrong.

“Brat!!!! Get down here!!!”

The young teenage boy, sat up immediately at the call. Large amethyst eyes fell open and the body moved automatically, arising from the poor excuse for a bed. Pale arms worked mechanically, yet quickly, with the task of dressing himself, not bothering to make sure that the rags matched since he would get punished for taking extra time.

Within thirty seconds, the short boy was speeding down the stairs towards the room that contained the newly awoken Hunter. Tri-colored hair lay matted against his skull as he pushed a stray blond bang out of his eyes. He would have to find a time to sneak off and take a bath, he thought to himself.

A small, pale hand reached for the door and pushed it open, praying to whomever would listen that the older hunter would still be to tired to do anything really damaging.

It seemed like no one was listening…again.

As soon as the door was a few feet open, a blunt object flew straight at him. The boy new better than to duck, seeing as if he did then something worse would happen, so the unyielding object made unforgivable contact with his face. The force of the blow knocked him to the ground and a gruff voice was speaking over the roaring in his head.

“Filthy crossbreed. Can’t even get here on time! When I call you, I expect you to get your lazy ass here immediately!!! Do you understand, runt!!!”

The boy simply whimpered at the pain as he rolled over and assumed a kneeling position, begging for the man to forgive his unworthiness.

The man looked at the frail boy cowering before him with an expression of pure disgust. And unpleasant sneer fell upon his lips as his kicked the boy repeatedly in the ribs, making sure that the teen didn’t think that he was getting off the hook that easily.

“For your punishment, you will not receive anything to eat today. Understood?”

The boy chocked and wheezed as he was hit, but he didn’t make any other type of noise. He nodded his head in answer to the Hunter’s question. Great now he would starve for another day. He hadn’t gotten anything to eat yesterday either.

Tears were being held back to the best of his ability as he whished that he was anywhere but here. He would even run into the arms of a vampire if it meant a painless death.

The brown-haired man soon got bored of torturing the weakling and stopped the beating. He gave another disgusted snort and turned to face the other direction.

“I want the regular weaponry organized within the hour and I don’t want to hear a word out of you.” The man commanded and he started to walk back to his room.

“Yes, Master.” The boy intoned, waiting for his master’s dismissal so he could get started on the tasks given him.

“Oh, and one more thing.” The man paused in his walk. “The vampires have been getting harder to find, so we’re going to need some live bait.”

The teen stifled a gasp; he knew what that meant, he was going to be used as a lure for hungry vampires; for some reason his sent was like a beacon. He always ended up returning to his attic with multiple new gashes and scars after he was included in a hunt. His seal caged all his power, so he couldn’t fight back if he tried.

“Y-yes Master.” The older man then dismissed the quivering mass and the teen all but ran from the room.

Shaky hands carefully packed the desired weapons into two large backpacks. Garlic bombs and silver bullets went into sealed containers and amulets of weakening were placed into additional pockets

The boy didn’t say anything as he did as ordered. After all, you didn’t fight when you’re a slave to a hunter.

~(*)~

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://shamise-fanfiction.blogspot.com/2009/11/dusks-haven-1-11-4-09_04.html' title='Dusk's Haven 1/? I enjoy drawing and writing, and have found an outlet for my writing in the yu-gi-oh fanverse (I don't really care that much for the actual series, although Season 0 was epic!). I tend to stay away from character bashing and OCs (if I can). Recently, I have been taking my AU fanfics and re-making with my own original characters. Those versions can be found on fictionpress.com under the same penname. I also enjoy playing volleyball and I currently play as a libero on my college team. I enjoy being outside in the sun and staying inside for really long periods of time will give me a headache.

Outside of posting stories on this blog, I might occasionally just rant about real life. Sometimes I just cant hold it in...

Introduction [10-15-09]

Alrightty then. I've decided that I'm going to post my stories and ideas here for either more feedback or as a backup. Feel free to comment on them.

For the most part, I will be writing Yu-Gi-Oh! fanfiction. Pretty much all of them will be AU and most of them will have a yaoi pairing (Puzzleshipping, YxYY). The longer ones are posted on fanfiction.net (my penname is Shamise).

Occasionally, I will post original stories (not very often though) or artwork.
